The project “Training for the empowerment of energy consumers” (acronym TRECE), co-financed by the ERASMUS + program, began in October 2019 and will end at the end of 2021. It is carried out by a consortium of 5 European partners (from Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Slovenia), coordinated by SGS TECNOS Spain, the Romanian partner in the project being ENERO – Center for the Promotion of Clean and Efficient Energy in Romania.
The main objective of the TRECE project is to create a training program for NGOs, public bodies, social organisations and local authorities, which will allow them to help those members of society who are at risk of energy poverty.
This training program addresses energy poverty by actively involving citizens and social agents in identifying and implementing energy efficiency solutions, as well as by adapting information to user characteristics, ensuring acceptability, active participation and applicability.
The TRECE project has a “train the trainers” approach, by creating a training program and making it available on a MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) platform, from where social agents and public authorities can easily disseminate it to target groups.
The topics addressed in this training program, established by the project partners in consultation with representatives of social agents and those of the target groups, are:
- Energy saving measures and energy consumption interpretation measures
- Energy efficient appliances and equipment
- Energy suppliers and billing
- ICT tools and solutions in information and communication technology for energy efficiency at home
- Renewable energy sources and climate change
- Subsidies for people at risk of energy poverty
As a result of the activities carried out in the project, the aim is to change the consumers’ behaviour so they increase the energy efficiency of their households and reduce their energy consumption and thus the value of energy suppliers’ bills, but also the CO2 emissions.
